Rules

USGA rules will govern all play. Please be courteous to your fellow golfers and volunteers, as this is a friendly competition but we must still follow the rules of golf.  If there is a rules question, you may ask your playing partner and competitors within your group first, and if all are not in agreement, please call the pro-shop at 843-681-1766 and ask for one of the Golf Professionals – Mary Grace or Parker.  All players must apply the rules correctly and agree, but cannot all agree to waive any rules or ignore them.

Out of Bounds

All plantation roads and fences are out of bounds, and any noted holes below, along with white stakes at ground level are defined throughout the course.  There is no local alternative rule for out of bounds.

Barony Course

#9 – optional ball drop area for lateral water hazard on right

#9, #10, #11, #12 and #13 – out of bounds right of water hazard

#10, #11, #12, #13, #15, #17 and #18 – out of bounds left of water hazard

Robber’s Row Course

#4 – optional ball drop area for lateral water hazard on left

#16 – out of bounds right of the hazard adjacent on the left

Local Divot Rule

If your ball comes to rest in a divot, you may without penalty take free relief.  This relief may be the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole.

Pace of Play

All players should play without undue delay. It is the goal to complete all rounds within 4 hours and 30 minutes or less. If a group is out of position, the committee may monitor players if necessary. If you or your group receive a warning, each player should pick up their pace and may play ready golf until you catch up.

Weather

If dangerous or unplayable course conditions causes a suspension of play, the committee may reduce the number of stipulated holes required to complete the day and/or event.  There is no course alarm system or horn blowing, players play at their own risk and should use their best judgement.  If an immediate suspension is made by the course or the committee, we will do our best to notify you on the course.

Match Play

We will follow the USGA Match Play rules. Concessions are allowed and encouraged. You may concede your opponent’s next stroke, a hole or the match, but a concession is only made when it is clearly communicated. A concession is final – you cannot withdraw it once made and your opponent cannot decline the concession. “That’s Good or Pick Up” is a concession.  Concessions cannot be made for a playing partner or within the same team.  You are responsible for telling your opponent the right number of strokes you have taken when asked. In Match Play you do not play ready golf due to the strategy of the format.

Handicap

All players must have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index by the revision date of October 15, 2022. Players with an Index higher than 40.0 will play with a Course Handicap equal to that of a player with a 40.0 Handicap Index.

All players will be playing from the Green Tee Box for both courses.

Pin Placements are determined by Red (front pin), White (middle pin) and Blue (back pin).
